What is REcheck?

REcheck is your one-stop search tool for finding ways to rehome, reuse, repair, rent, repurpose or recycle your stuff — locally. Instead of tossing something out, REcheck helps you find the nearest places or people who want it, fix it, share it, or give it a second life.

**What’s a giver and a taker?**

Givers are people who want to move an item on. They know just because they’re done with something doesn’t mean it’s done. It has life left in it yet.

Takers are the life extenders, the geniuses who are creating solutions to stop valuable resources from being discarded. Takers say yes please, we’ll give that [insert blank here] a new home, new purpose, a new form, a new life.

**Who can be a taker?**

Just about anyone. Our definition of ‘taker’ extends way beyond the obvious op shops (where, let’s be honest, supply often outweighs demand).

We’re talking about:

Creative reuse centres
Libraries of all sorts (tool, toy, street, beach, kitchen...)
Animal shelters
Auction houses
Paint reuse programs
Artists & upcyclers
Tip shops
Community organisations
Party kit libraries
Education providers
Repairers
Recyclers and more…

If you regularly accept items, or you're doing a one-off collection (like gathering bottle lids for a school mural), you can be a taker on REcheck. Just fill out this form.

Can I suggest a place to list?

Yes, please! Send us their details here and we’ll reach out to invite them.
We don’t pretend to have all the answers — but with your help, we’re building a community that just might.

Do you verify the takers?

At this early stage, there is no formal verification process. If you find a taker whose actions don’t match their listing, let us know and we’ll investigate.

Who will search REcheck?

Lots of people, in lots of life moments:

Families with kids growing out of everything
Empty nesters downsizing
Schools and businesses rebranding and ditching old uniforms
Eco-heroes collecting useful oddments like bread tags or broccoli bands
Declutterers, movers, renovators

REcheck empowers the giver with choice by making it easier to take responsibility for the next step for your stuff.

Can I use REcheck to source secondhand items?

Yes! REcheck isn’t just for letting go. It’s for finding, too. If you’re after something specific (like a ladder or some fabric), search by item to find nearby takers who accept these items. Often they will sell, rent or share them too.

Can I make money through REcheck?

Yes! Listings with the $ icon show places where you can sell or rent out your items. It's a great way to turn underused items into extra income. You can refine your search by switching on the 'Earn money' filter.

Is this available Australia-wide?

We’re working on it!

We’re starting with what we know - Sydney - but we plan to grow Australia-wide.
If you don’t see much in your postcode yet, check back soon, or help us grow by sharing REcheck with your local council or reuse group, or telling us the takers you know of in your area.

Is it free to use REcheck?

Totally free.
No fees, no catch. Our success depends on making it as easy as possible for you to keep your stuff in use, and that means FREE.

How can I help?
