Spexcycle is Australia's first closed-loop eyewear recycling initiative, designed by and for the optical industry. The program has collection boxes placed in participating optical practices across Australia to collect used eyewear, including prescription glasses, sunglasses, and optical frames. These items are processed at Spexcycle's facility in Sydney's Inner West, where materials like cellulose acetate are reclaimed and transformed into high-grade acetate for new eyewear. This initiative aims to reduce landfill waste and promote sustainability by giving discarded eyewear a second life.
